Beginning August 21st and running through September 7th, the Gurnee Police Department conducted special traffic enforcement throughout the village. Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these enforcement actions were conducted in order to increase safety belt and child restraint device use and curb speeding motorists. As part of our overall traffic safety initiatives, these special enforcement activities are a vital component to help make our roadways safer for all who enjoy living in and visiting our community. The results of the most recent special enforcement operations are as follows: Number of DUI arrests: 1 Number of safety restraint violations: 85 Number of child restraint violations: 4 Number of speeding violations: 62 Number of vehicles stopped: 191
