The Village of Gurnee Diversity Steering Committee was created by the Village Board of Trustees on November 7, 2005. The committee’s objective is to increase diversity in the Village’s hiring practices to better reflect Gurnee’s demographic population. The committee meets twice per month, and monthly reports are provided at Village Board meetings. The Diversity Steering Committee will address issues such as employee recruitment, civil service procedures and diversity training for all Village staff and elected/appointed officials.

Members of the committee and the Village Board are committed to providing equal employment and advancement opportunities to all prospective and current employees, in all job classifications, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Furthermore, considering the need for reasonable accommodation to their limitation, we will not discriminate against persons because of their handicap. All Diversity Committee meetings are open to the public.
