Armed Robbery of Walgreens Store

Gurnee, ILNovember 11, 2009 - At 12:06 PM today, November 11, 2009, the Gurnee Police Department responded to a 911 call of an armed robbery that occurred at the Walgreens located at 4830 W. Grand Avenue.

Witnesses at Walgreens said that a male white subject walked up to the pharmacy in the store and passed a note to the 27 year old female employee at the counter that demanded the employee turn over an undisclosed prescription narcotic. At the same time, the suspect lifted up his shirt and exposed to the employee what appeared to be the grip of a handgun. The employee then gave the note to the 25 year old pharmacist who then handed over an undisclosed amount of the narcotic to the offender. The offender then walked out of the store and fled on foot through the parking lot in a southwest direction.

Responding officers searched the immediate area but the suspect was not located. No one was harmed in the incident.

The suspect was described as a male white, approximately 26 years of age, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black and white knit cap with long tassels on each side, a white hooded sweatshirt with a husky or wolf logo on the front. He was also wearing grey gloves.
