MEG Arrest at Tower Pharmacy

Gurnee, ILNovember 20, 2009 - On Thursday, November 19, 2009 a search warrant was executed at the RX Tower Pharmacy, located at 15 Tower Court in Gurnee. The search warrant was the result of a six month undercover investigation involving the Gurnee Police Department, Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (LCMEG) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)

Arrested following the search warrant execution were the pharmacist, Jagga Grandhi, 59, of Long Grove, Steve Moran, 26, of Fox Lake and Lisa Booper, 46, of Round Lake Park. Grandhi allegedly sold controlled substances over the counter without a prescription for cash. The controlled substances were reportedly Vicodin, Xanax and morphine. Grandhi was charged with 13 counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and 3 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Moran was allegedly purchasing some of the drugs and was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Booper was also allegedly purchasing the drugs and was charged with 3 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. The investigation is still ongoing.

All three subjects are appearing in bond court in Waukegan this morning.
