Gurnee, IL – January 27, 2010 - At the February 1, 2010 Gurnee Village Board meeting the Board of Trustees will be considering an ordinance regulating the outdoor parking and storage of recreational vehicles (RVs) on residentially-zoned lots.  The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held. in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall, located at 325 N. OPlaine Rd.  Those interested in viewing the ordnance prior to the meeting can do so at the Community Development Department counter at Village Hall, Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

The ordinance is a result of resident concerns that these vehicles, and their outdoor storage, may negatively impact property values or endanger public health, safety, and welfare.  In conjunction with a residential survey conducted last July, workshops before the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals were held in May, June, and September 2009, along with Public Hearing November of 2009, to discuss the outdoor parking and storage of recreational vehicles (RVs) on residentially-zoned lots. 

Recreational Vehicles include: campers, boats, toy haulers, haul trailers, jet skis, snowmobiles, and other similar vehicles and equipment that are used for recreational purposes.
