Don't Forget to Change Your Clocks & Batteries Sunday, March 13th

It's nearly time to spring ahead one hour! Daylight Savings begins at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2016; don't forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed on Saturday, March 12th.

As the date approaches, the Gurnee Fire Department would like to remind all residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors when they turn their clocks ahead. Fresh batteries are critical to ensuring your smoke detectors will work if a fire breaks out. Additionally, smoke detectors need to be replaced every 10 years, and carbon monoxide detectors need to be replaced every 5 years. These small and easy steps can mean the difference between life and death.
