Don't Forget to Change Your Clocks & Batteries Sunday, November 1st

It's nearly time to fall back one hour! Daylight Savings begins at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015; don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday, October 31st.

As the date approaches, the Gurnee Fire Department would like to remind all residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors when they turn their clocks back. Fresh batteries are critical to ensuring your smoke detectors will work if a fire breaks out. Additionally, smoke detectors need to be replaced every 10 years, and carbon monoxide detectors need to be replaced every 5 years. These small and easy steps can mean the difference between life and death.
