Please be advised the Village has discovered an error in billing related to water bills dated October 21, 2011.  Customers began receiving these bills on Friday, October 28th.  The error relates to minimum billing charges under the old fee schedule. 

To identify if you received an incorrect bill, look under the “Service Description” section of your bill.  If it  contains the language “WA Minimum Charge” you have been incorrectly overbilled and will be issued a new invoice.

Effective October 1, 2011, the Village of Gurnee implemented two major changes to the current utility billing system : (1) the water and sewer rates and base fees and (2) how often residents are billed.  The billing system has changed so that now all residents are charged a base fee relative to the size of their water meters, which covers operations and maintenance.  This change replaces the previous practice of charging a minimum bill of 5,000 gallons.  The chart below illustrates the bi-monthly base fees for each meter size:

The accounting and financial reporting functions of the Village are centralized in the Administration Department under the supervision of the Finance Director. Finance division activities include: accounting, accounts payables, accounts receivables, auditing, budget, business licensing, debt management, financial reporting, payroll, purchasing, revenue collection, risk management, and treasury operations.

Q. Can I apply for a new business license online?
A. No, only renewals are accepted online. New businesses cannot use the online E-Pay system as new applicants must apply for Certificate of Occupancy Permits in person.
