Fire Safety Expo 2013: Saturday, May 18th

On Saturday, May 18th, the Gurnee Fire Department will be participating in Fire/Safety Expo 2013, presented by the Lake County Fire Chief's Association. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Parking Lot E (between near Value City Furniture) at Gurnee Mills.  Admission is free!

Des Plaines River Update: Wednesday, April 17th, 6:00 p.m.

GURNEE, IL – As of 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17th, the Des Plaines River is at a level of 8.34 feet and rising.  At this time, the Village has issued notice to all residents and businesses in the floodplain that sandbagging operations will stop after 9 p.m. this evening.  Emerald Avenue and Kilbourne Road will be officially closed this evening at the same time.  Based on the current river forecasts, the Village cannot guarantee any additional sandbagging assistance to those choosing to remain in the floodplain area. However, sandbags will be made available for any residents or businesses that may remain in need at the Gurnee Public Works Facility (1151 Kilbourne Road).

Village Issues Flooding Notice to Residents, Requests Volunteers for Sandbagging Operations

GURNEE, IL – As of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16th, the Des Plaines River is at a level of 7.65 feet, which continues to cause minor flooding in the floodplain.  With current National Weather Service predictions of an additional three or more inches of rainfall through Thursday, April 18th, the Village has issued notice to the residents and businesses in the floodplain that a significant flood with the potential to damage property is likely and that sandbagging is highly encouraged
