What is the Citizen Fire Academy?
- Why do so many fire trucks go to a call?
- Does the ambulance always use lights and siren when transporting someone to the hospital?
- How does my fire department stay prepared to handle emergencies?
- What do the firefighters do all day?
- How does the fire department help keep my insurance rate low?
- Why does a fire truck go to a car accident?
- What kind of training does it take to become a firefighter?
The Gurnee Fire Department Citizen Fire Academy was established to answer questions like these and more. One night a week for twelve weeks, we will teach you how your firefighters do their jobs. For the first time, citizens will be able to gain classroom and hands-on experience to help them understand what being a firefighter is about.
