Knox Box Program for Disabled PersonsThe Gurnee Fire Department has developed a knox box program to aid handicapped residents of Gurnee and Warren Township. Knox boxes are key boxes used for rapid entry. A key to the resident's home is placed in the knox box and secured. The knox box gives the Fire Department quick access to a home when the homeowner is not at home or unable to answer the door. A knox box loaner is also available for anyone temporarily disabled or for those in need. If you have a long- or short-term disability and would like more information about our knox box program, call the Fire Prevention Bureau at (847) 599-6650. At that time, we will determine if you are a candidate for the program. There is no cost to you for this service throughout the duration of your disability.
