 The Gurnee Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program was developed because of the need for a well-trained civilian emergency work force.  These team members will assist the village by becoming self-sufficient for the first 48 hours after a disaster when the scope of incidents has overwhelmed the conventional emergency services.

The Village of Gurnee has established an Emergency Management Agency to coordinate preparedness, relief, response, and recovery activities for all emergency or disaster situations within the Village. The program has an Emergency Management Agency Coordinator, appointed by the Village Administrator with the approval of the Mayor and Village Board, who meets the program standards and requirements as established by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act.

Gurnee Fire Chief Completes International Professional Designation Process

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

GURNEE, IL – Fire Chief Fred N. Friedl III of the Gurnee Fire Department has successfully completed the process that awards him the professional designation of “Chief Fire Officer” (CFO). The Commission on Professional Credentialing met on March 9, 2010 to officially confer the re-designation upon Chief Friedl. Chief Friedl is one of only 680 CFO’s worldwide.
