Maintenance Worker I (Public Works) - Eligibility List Testing
Requirements:
The Village of Gurnee is seeking candidates to establish an eligibility list for the position of Maintenance Worker I in the Public Works Department.
Employees in this position perform work of a semi-skilled to skilled nature involving a variety of routine tasks in the maintenance, repair, operation and construction of Village streets / sidewalks, buildings, water distribution system, sanitary and storm sewer conveyance systems, parkways and grounds, and other public infrastructure. Specific work assignments are provided on a daily basis and may be rotated.
Requires a valid Class B or higher CDL with air brake endorsement at time of application and hire; high school diploma / equivalent; 1 to 3+ years’ experience performing construction, maintenance, landscape restoration, or work of a comparable nature. Previous municipal public works experience preferred; additional specialized or technical training as obtained through an accredited technical college or career training institute desirable. Other combinations of education and experience which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job may be considered.
Must be able to meet attendance requirements and 24 hour emergency call out requirements including weekends and holidays. Position has a 20 mile living radius; must meet radius requirements within 24 months after hire.
