GURNEE, IL - August 1, 2009 - On July 31, 2009 at 4:02 PM, the Gurnee Police Department received a call of a subject exposing himself to young girls at the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center, 900 N. Hunt Club Road. Witnesses copied down the offender’s license plate as he fled the park in his 2000 gray Jeep Cherokee. A check of the registration showed the registered owner of the vehicle, Jeffrey R. Sonderman, was a registered child sex offender.

At approximately 5:26 PM, Gurnee police officers located Sonderman at the Slumberland Motel, 3030 Belvidere Road in Waukegan. After a short foot pursuit he was taken into custody. No one was injured during the arrest.

Sonderman, who is currently out on bond for similar acts at the public pool in Barrington, IL, was charged with four counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, Child Sex Offender in a Public Park,

Violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act, Public Indecency, and Resisting Arrest. He was remanded to the custody of the Lake County Jail on $500,000 bond.
