Beginning August 21st and running through September 7th, the Gurnee Police Department is conducting special traffic enforcement throughout the village. Also, beginning on September 3rd running through the early morning hours of September 4th, theGurnee Police Department is joining other Illinois police agencies throughout the area in conducting a second multi-jurisdictional mobilization to address dangerous driving.
The effort, called Reducing Auto Crashes through Corridor Enforcement (RACCE), features high-visibility enforcement activity by multiple law enforcement agencies along the specific corridor. Enforcement activities will focus on Route 41. The RACCE initiate is being conducted in conjunction with the “Click It or Ticket” mobilization. Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these enforcement actions are being conducted in order to remove drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways, increase safety belt and child restraint device use, and curb speeding motorists. As part of our overall traffic safety initiatives, these special enforcement activities are a vital component to help make our roadways safer for all who enjoy living in and visiting our community. Officers assigned to these details will have zero tolerance for traffic violations, particularly impaired driving, lack of safety belt or child seat use, and speeding.
