GURNEE, IL - Beginning January 29th and running through February 14th, 2010 the Gurnee Police Department conducted enhanced impaired driver enforcement activities throughout the village.

GURNEE, IL - Beginning January 29th and running through February 14th, 2010 the Gurnee Police Department conducted enhanced impaired driver enforcement activities throughout the village.

Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these enforcement actions were conducted in order to remove drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways.

The results of these special enforcement operations are as follows:

Number of enforcement actions conducted: 7
Number of impaired driving (DUI) arrests: 9
Number of speeding citations: 5
Open transportation of alcohol citations: 1
No Insurance citations: 5
Suspended or revoked licenses: 4
Misdemeanor arrests: 10
Number of vehicles stopped: 23
Total number of citations written: 44
