Gurnee, IL – On March 6, 2010 at approximately 1:04 AM at Route 41 near Washington Street, Shirlon Rogers, 43, was issued traffic citations by a Gurnee police officer for Improper Lane Use, Speeding, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
After being released from the Gurnee Police Facility on a recognizance bond for the traffic charges Rogers returned to make a complaint that the police officer stopped her without cause and during the arrest the officer threw her into the police car causing her to hit her head. Rogers’ complaint included a sworn affidavit attesting to the truth of her statement.
The entire exchange between Rogers and the police officers involved was audio and video recorded by the camera mounted in the Gurnee Police vehicle driven by the officer. The video recording revealed that the allegations sworn to by Rogers were false.
On March 22, 2010 a warrant for Perjury, a Class 3 Felony, was issued for the arrest of Shirlon Rogers and on March 26, 2010 she was taken into custody by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. Rogers was released on a $50,000 personal recognizance bond.
Arrested was Shirlon Rogers, 43, 2304 Joppa Ave, Zion for felony Perjury.
The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
