Gurnee Police Special Enforcement Results

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GURNEE, IL –- Beginning May 14th and running through May31st, the Gurnee Police Department conducted occupant protection enforcement zones at various locations throughout the village.

Additionally, officers focused their attention on the enforcement of safety restraint device usage during the hours of 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM. These zones were funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to coincided with “Click it or Ticket,” a national obilization.

The results of these special enforcement operations/zones are as follows:


Total number of hours worked: 95
Hours worked between 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM: 51
Numbers of details conducted: 13
Number of safety belt violations: 100
Number of child restraint violations: 4
Warrant Arrests: 1
N umber of vehicles stopped: 94


Also, as part of the nationwide “Click it or Ticket” campaign, all Gurnee patrol officers focused heavily on passenger restraint violations throughout their shifts. These officers issued the following restraint violation citations during the month of May, 2010:


Safety belt violations: 305
Child restraint violations: 31
