Saved by the Safety Belt Awards

GURNEE - December 12, 2008 - The Gurnee Police Department, in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, has awarded a number of citizens the “Saved by the Safety Belt Club” award.

The award is given to traffic crash survivors for their use of safety restraint devices.
An on-going review of reported traffic crashes that occurred within the Village in 2008 was conducted by the police department. As a result of this examination, 30 citizens were nominated and approved for this award.

Members of the press are invited to attend a ceremony where the recipients will be given their awards.

The event will be held on December 18, 2008 in the community room of the Gurnee Police Department, 100 N. O’Plaine Rd., Gurnee, IL. Presentations will begin at 6:30 P.M. and should last about an hour.

Representatives of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Illinois Department of Transportation will be present for the awards presentation.
