GURNEE, IL - February 13, 2009
- On Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at approximately 8:21 PM, Gurnee Police
officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at the LaQuinta Inn, located at 5688 Northridge
The offender walked into the lobby of the hotel, placed a black duffle bag on the counter and
instructed the desk clerk to put cash inside. The desk clerk fled to an adjacent office, locked the door
and called police. The offender fled without obtaining any cash. The area was searched by officers
and police k-9 units but the offender was not located.
The offender was described as a male white, 40-47 years of age, approximately 180-200 pounds, last
seen wearing a black knit cap pulled down over the face and eye holes cut out, black jacket and blue jeans.
The offender was wearing white latex gloves and carried a black duffle bag. He was armed with a large knife
with a brown handle. This individual is believed to be responsible for four other robberies at area hotels,
one in Gurnee and three in Waukegan.
A possible witness was observed sitting on a bench outside the hotel prior to the robbery.
The Gurnee Police Department is trying to locate this individual and considers him a person of interest. A
composite sketch of this person of interest is included below. The subject was wearing a white baseball cap
with an unknown type of emblem on the front and has a thick mustache and goatee.
