Armed Robbery Suspect
GURNEE, IL - May 29, 2009 - Gurnee detectives today released
a police artist sketch of the suspect in the armed robbery of the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Memorial Day.
One of the witnesses assisted in putting the sketch together. The sketch was done by an employee of the Lake
County Sheriff’s Department.
Gurnee Police received a 911 call at 2:59 PM on 5/25/09. The information received indicated the robbery happened
10 minutes prior to the call and the offender was no longer at the scene.
A female store employee was approached by a male subject who asked for her assistance with a price check on an
item. As she got closer to the subject he told her to give him the money and he indicated he had a gun in his
waistband. The employee handed the offender an undisclosed amount of cash in a white bag. The offender grabbed
the bag and ran out the north store entrance into the parking lot. The employee went out into the parking lot but
could not see the offfender anywhere in the area.
The offender was described as a male white or male Hispanic, approximately 30 years of age, approximately 5'11",
short black hair, thin build, last seen wearing a newer denim jacket over a long white shirt and baggy jeans. He
was also described as speaking with an Hispanic accent.
