GURNEE, IL July 1, 2010 ‑The suspect in a kidnapping and sexual assault crime that occurred on June 5th, Richard R. Gallatin, 37, was taken into custody at around 8:30 PM on June 30 at the Chain ‘O Lakes State Park in Spring Grove, IL.
Lake County Sheriff’s Police received an anonymous tip last evening from a caller who stated Gallatin has been camping near the campground at Chain ‘O Lakes State Park. Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Division went to the park and located Gallatin there. He was taken into custody without incident. Gallatin was then transported to the Gurnee Police Department. Gallatin will be appearing in bond court later today in Waukegan. He is charged with four counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, one count of Aggravated Kidnapping and one count of Armed Robbery, all class X felonies. He faces 6 to 30 years imprisonment. Bond on the arrest warrant is set at $1 million dollars.

Background: The abduction and sexual assault began on Saturday, 06/05/10 at 9:20 PM and lasted until Sunday, 06/06/10 at about 1:20 AM. The Victim reported she was abducted from parking lot "F" at Gurnee Mills; Rt. 132 and I-94. She was forcibly taken to an ATM at Bank of America Grayslake, IL to withdrawal $40.00. The Victim was then told to drive to a remote location in Kane Co, IL. Once in that area, she was told to park in a church lot, where the sexual assault took place. The Victim was then forced to drive to a 7-Eleven in Forest Park, IL where the suspect got out of the victim’s vehicle and she drove back to Lake County. Upon returning to Lake County she reported the crime to police.
