Video Voyeur Arrested

GURNEE, IL ‑ June 21, 2010 - At 2:19 PM on Saturday, June 19, Officers responded to Hurricane Harbor in Six Flags Great America for a report of a male subject engaged in unlawful video recording of persons in the men’s locker room there.

It was reported that a 25 year old off duty police officer, from the Lake County area, was at Hurricane Harbor for the day and was in a stall inside the locker room and observed someone holding a cell phone under the stall, allegedly taking video of the officer in the stall without his knowledge. The off duty officer confronted the subject and a short foot chase lead to the capture of the suspect. He was turned over to Gurnee Police.

Subsequent investigation revealed video footage on the phone which contained images of adult males and juvenile males in various stages of undress. The suspect admitted that he is a Chicago school teacher and lives in the City of Chicago. Gurnee officers, assisted by Chicago Police from District 9, went to the apartment and conducted a search for other electronic equipment such as computers, cameras and other computer media related to the investigation. Several items were removed from the apartment and were returned to Lake County for further analysis.

Arrested was Jaime A. Jimenez, male Hispanic, 39, of 2233 S. Canal in Chicago. The case was reviewed by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office and Jimenez was charged with one count of Unauthorized Video Recording and Live Video Transmission, a Class 3 Felony. Jimenez was taken to a bond hearing on Sunday morning, June 20 in Waukegan. He was remanded to the Lake County Jail on a $20,000 bond. The Chicago Police Department and an official with the Chicago Public Schools have been informed of this information and are working with the investigation. This case remains under investigation and more information will be released when becomes available.
