Woman Attacked While Jogging

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

GURNEE, IL -­ July 26, 2010 - At 4:21 PM on Sunday, 7/25/2010, the Gurnee Police Department received notification from Lake Forest Hospital that they were treating a 41 year old female who was reporting that she was battered while out running on Almond Road in Gurnee.

Upon further investigation, the victim stated that she was jogging on the sidewalk, southbound on Almond Road in front of Woodland Middle School at approximately 12:15 PM. She said she passed a male white who was jogging northbound on the sidewalk. Right after the man passed her; she was grabbed from behind and pushed to the ground by the same man she had passed. The man demanded money from her and wanted her to take him to her house. The victim said she lived a couple of miles away and that she had no money with her. The man got angry and pushed her head into the sidewalk and told her if she called the police he would kill her. He then ran away in an unknown direction. The victim made her way home and did not contact police. She later drove herself to the hospital for treatment.

The victim was treated for a concussion, abrasions and a sprained ankle. She was treated and released. While at the hospital, she relayed the story of the attack which prompted ER staff to contact Gurnee Police. The victim said she had never seen the suspect prior to yesterday.

The suspect is described as a male white, late 20’s, approximately 6’ 02”, thin build, sandy blond hair and green eyes. The suspect was wearing shorts and no shirt.
