An award ceremony will be held to recognize Woodland D.A.R.E. students who wrote winning essays during the spring session.
The Gurnee Police Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, in partnership with the Woodland School District, has awarded 34 students with brick pavers which have been installed at “The Guardian” statue in front of the police station. Winners were chosen based on the high quality of the essay they wrote as part of the D.A.R.E. program.
Winning students, their families and friends, along with the general public are invited to the award ceremony. It will be held on Saturday, August 14th 2010 at 11:00 AM in front of the Gurnee Police Station; 100 N. O’Plaine Rd., Gurnee, IL. The ceremony is being held in conjunction with the police department open house which is held annually during Gurnee Days.
Mayor Kovarik, Chief Jones, and representatives of the Gurnee Police Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and Woodland School District will be on hand to speak, then present the awards to the students./p>
