Beginning August 20th and running through September 6th, 2010 the Gurnee Police Department is conducting special traffic enforcement throughout the village.

Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these additional enforcement actions are being conducted in order to remove drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways, increase safety belt and child restraint device use, and to slow speeding motorists.

As part of our overall traffic safety initiatives, these special enforcement activities are a vital component to help make our roadways safer for all who enjoy living in and visiting our community.

Officers assigned to these details will have zero tolerance for traffic violations, particularly impaired driving, lack of safety belt or child seat use, and speeding.
