[Gurnee, IL] – On 11/9/2010 at approximately 7:20 PM, an officer responded to the Joe’s Crab Shack restaurant at 5626 Northridge, for a report of a woman leaving the restaurant without paying her bill. The officer was told by an employee there that the woman had come into the restaurant and had ordered a dinner and wine. Afterward as he totaled the bill, the woman went outside and sat on a bench. The employee called police because he thought she was going to leave without paying. He had recognized her from an incident about 2 weeks prior where she allegedly came in and ordered a drink and left without paying.
The officer checked the area and located a woman matching the description given in the area of Grand Avenue and Six Flags Drive, near Six Flags Great America. She was lying in the grass on the south side of Grand Avenue. The officer made contact with her and asked if she was alright. She said she was OK. The officer believed her to be intoxicated. He explained to her that she had left the restaurant without paying and that she would need to pay the bill or be arrested. She did not have any money with her but said she had money at her apartment and could pay the bill. The officer escorted her to her nearby residence. She walked into her bedroom. She said her money was in her dresser drawer and she opened it and reached inside and removed a “clear, rigid feminine pleasure device” and held it over her head and approached the officer in a threatening manner. The officer knocked the device out of the way prior to being struck and placed the woman under arrest. She was then escorted out of the residence, placed in the squad car and transported to the Gurnee Police Department.
Arrested was Carolee Bildsten, 56, of Gurnee. Bildsten was charged with Theft of Labor/Services for walking out of Joe’s Crab Shack without paying the bill, Pedestrian Under the Influence for walking on public roadways while intoxicated and Aggravated Assault against the officer. Bildsten was processed and released on a personal recognizance bond. She was given a court date of 12/6/2010 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.
