Feb 14, 2011

GURNEE, IL – On Friday, February 18, 2011 Warren Waukegan Fire Protection District President Phillip DeRuntz will present the keys of a brand new ambulance to the Gurnee Fire Department.

“This is a milestone achievement and we are proud to stand alongside the Gurnee Fire Department to boost its already quality services,” stated President Phillip DeRuntz.

The new ambulance is a 2011 International Wheeled Coach Type I Medium Duty purchased from Fire Service, Inc. The District Board members allocated Gurnee Fire Department mechanics staff to work closely with reps from Fire Service, Inc. to design a customized ambulance that met the Village’s needs. The new ambulance will replace a 1998 ambulance.

“The donation of this unit validates the Fire Protection District’s commitment to work in unison with the Gurnee Fire / Rescue Organization to uphold the high standards we are known for. The actions of President Phillip DeRuntz, Secretary Martin Klauber and Treasurer John Badtke led to a direct improvement in our operation efforts. Our organization is very appreciative and excited about the new ambulance,” stated Fire Chief Fred N. Friedl.

A formal dedication will be held at Gurnee Fire Station No. 2, 6581 Dada, Gurnee at 10 AM on Friday, February 18, 2011. There will be plenty of opportunity to photograph the new ambulance and gain more specifics about the vehicle during and after the dedication.
