Gurnee, IL – To kickoff April as Alcohol Awareness Month, over a thousand community volunteers will visit liquor establishments throughout the State of Illinois including some in the Village of Gurnee.
"Project Sticker Shock" is sponsored by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission's “Don't Be Sorry” campaign. Consisting of teenagers, law enforcement personnel and community leaders, these volunteers will post stickers, window decals, posters, and signs to remind adults that it is illegal to provide alcohol to minors and for minors to use a fake ID.
Teenagers and adult chaperones—composed mainly of local law enforcement and local elected officials—visit liquor establishments during “Project Sticker Shock,” a statewide effort.
Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik will be participating in this year’s “Project Sticker Shock.”
WHEN: Monday, April 11, 2011, beginning at 1:00 PM; Gurnee Police Department
WHERE: After a briefing, volunteers will proceed to Cardinal Liquors and Dino’s Liquors in Gurnee to post these materials. Anyone with questions about this event may contact the Gurnee Police Department’s crime prevention office; 847-599-7080.
