Free Electronics Recycling Event May 4th & 5th - Warren Township Road District

 
The Warren Township Road District and the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County are sponsoring a free two-day electronics recycling event on Wednesday, May 4th and Thursday May 5th, 2011, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Warren Township Road District facility, 17801 W. Washington Street, which is at the southwest corner of Almond Road and Washington Street.
Some of the items that will be accepted are:
 
  • Household batteries, including alkaline and rechargeable batteries.
  • Computer Equipment, including personal computers, monitors, keyboards, laptops, printers, hand-held computer games, video games;
  • Home Electronics & Small Appliances, including TVs, VCRs, cameras, radios, speakers, CD players, vacuums, hair dryers, sewing machines, and microwaves; and
  • Home Office Equipment, including typewriters, fax machines, scanners, calculators, paper shredders, telephones, answering machines, and cell phones.

Items that will NOT be accepted include household chemicals, fluorescent lamps, software disks, audio or video tapes, compact disks, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, and large household appliances.

During the first event, the Township collected over 51K pounds of electronics that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. The Township urges residents with unwanted electronics to take advantage of this environmentally friendly opportunity. Please note this event is for Lake County residents only – commercial materials will not be accepted.
