Gurnee, IL – On July 29, 2012 at 5:28 AM, an alert resident in the 1100 block of Laurel Lane, observed 2 males inside an unlocked vehicle in a resident’s driveway. The resident called 911 and provided the observations to the 911 operator. The 2 males fled.

Responding officers, along with members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department blanketed the area and conducted an investigation.

Witness statements and physical evidence led to the arrest of Nicholas Bonilla, 18, of Lindenhurst, and Nicholas Alvery, 17, also from Lindenhurst. Both were charged with two counts of class 2 felony burglary as approved by the Lake County States Attorney’s Office.

“This is another example of how the public partnering with the police, solves crime,” Chief of Police Kevin Woodside said. “An observant resident, making a prompt call to police has once again led to felony arrests for serious crimes.” Woodside said.

Both teens are currently being held at the Gurnee police facility and will be transported to a bond hearing later today. The investigation into their activities is ongoing. More charges are expected.
