Elysian Fields and Greystone/Sedgewick; patrol beats 57 and 58
Patrol beats 57 and 58 had their most recent Neighborhood Watch meeting on 08/160/12. These beats contain the Elysian Fields and Greystone subdivisions and the areas surrounding them. The meeting was facilitated by Crime Prevention Technician Tom Agos. Officers Matt Bender, Tom Gudbrandsen and Phil Mazur also attended, along with Commander Meyer. Police and Crime Activity Summary:
556 police calls for service have been generated during the first half of 2012 in patrol beats 57 and 58. Historically, the average is 925 per year.
26 of the calls received from the beats so far in 2012 were for IUCR crimes. 80 were reported in all of 2011. The rest of the police calls are considered quasi-criminal, traffic, and service-related.
Since January 2007, 5,550 calls for service have been responded to in both beats; 389 of them IUCR crimes. The calls for service to IUCR crime ratio in the area is 7%. Roughly 38% of the calls for service since 2007 have been officer-initiated traffic enforcement activities (2,117).
In 2012, we expect 65 IUCR crimes to occur in the patrol beats based on the trend established during the previous 5 years.
The next regularly scheduled neighborhood watch meeting for the area is currently slated for a date in February of 2013. An official notice will be circulated when the date is closer.
