Elysian Fields and Greystone/Sedgewick; patrol beats 57 and 58
Patrol beats 57 and 58 had their most recent Neighborhood Watch meeting on 02/13/13. These patrol beats contain the Elysian Fields and Greystone subdivisions and the areas surrounding them. The meeting was facilitated by Crime Prevention Technician Tom Agos. Officers Matt Bender, Jason Kalinowski, Rick Vorpagel, Mark Gliva and Andy Mytnik also attended. Below is a brief summary:
Police Activity Summary:
1,058 police calls for service were generated during 2012 in patrol beats 57 and 58. Historically, the average is 983 per year. 59 of the calls received from the beats in 2012 were for Illinois Uniform Crime Report (IUCR) crimes. 80 were reported in all of 2011. The rest of the police calls are considered quasi-criminal, traffic, and service-related.
Since January 2008, 4,915 calls for service have been responded to in both beats; 342 of them IUCR crimes. The calls for service to IUCR crime ratio in the area is 6.5%.
We presented a training session to the group, featuring the video “Shots Fired! When Lightning Strikes.” This dynamic video is designed to teach members of the public realistic strategies for dealing with an active shooter situation.
