Gurnee, IL – At 4:41 AM on Thursday, May 23rd, officers responded to a 911 call from a subject at 730 Ferndale Ave. stating that he could hear his cousin being beaten up. He stated that he could hear an unknown number of male subjects shouting. Upon arrival, officers located a kicked in door and observed two male black subjects inside the home. One of the subjects was secured on scene and the second subject ran out of the home and was apprehended a short distance from the home by assisting Waukegan Police Officers. A third subject fled the home by jumping through a bedroom window and was later apprehended by the Waukegan Police Department. Five more people were discovered inside the home, but were identified as residents of the house. Officers found evidence of injuries on two of the residents.
The initial investigation indicated that this incident was a targeted home invasion by subjects known to a resident of the home. A police dog from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department assisted with checking the area for suspects. The North Chicago Police Department K-9 unit also assisted with the search of the house.
Terrence P. Winslow Jr., 24, of Zion, IL was arrested and charged with two counts of home invasion, a class X felony and two counts of aggravated battery, a class 3 felony. Demeko Chastang, 39, of Zion, IL, and Tiron M. Washington Jr., 24, of Zion, IL were arrested and charged with 2 counts of home invasion, a class X felony, two counts of aggravated battery, a class 3 felony and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, a class 2 felony. All three suspects will appeared for a bond hearing today in Waukegan.
