Gurnee, IL – On Monday, 05/20/2013, Gurnee detectives concluded a two month armed robbery investigation with the arrest of a second armed robbery suspect. The suspects are believed to be involved in a series of armed robberies and a home invasion that occurred in close proximity around the same time in Waukegan. Gurnee detectives worked with Waukegan detectives to identify the suspects. Each suspect was arrested without incident. Both suspects have additional charges for crimes committed in Waukegan.
On May 8th, Hector Guifarro, 18, of Waukegan was arrested. He was charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a class 1 felony, for the Gurnee armed robbery. Bond was set at $100,000. Guifarro was 17 at the time of the crime but is charged as an adult.
On May 20th, John J. Reyna, 21, of Waukegan was arrested. He was charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a class 1 felony, for the Gurnee armed robbery. Bond was set at $250,000.
On March 26th, at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at a residence in the 3500 Block of Keith Avenue. The victim said that he was working in his garage when two subjects dressed in black entered his garage brandishing a hand gun. The subjects then took items from his person. The victim furnished officers with a description of the suspects and their vehicle. The area was checked but the suspects were not located.
