Gurnee, IL – An award ceremony will be held to recognize D.A.R.E. students for outstanding performance.
The Gurnee Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, in partnership with the Woodland School District 50 and Gurnee School District 56 have awarded 39 “Students of the Year” with brick pavers bearing their names, which have been installed at “The Guardian” statue in front of the police station. Winners were chosen based on their high quality of participation in the D.A.R.E. program during the 2012-2013 school years.
Winning students, their families and friends, along with the general public are invited to the award ceremony. It will be held on Saturday, August 10th 2013 at 11:00 AM in front of the Gurnee Police Station; 100 N. O’Plaine Rd., Gurnee, IL. The ceremony is being held in conjunction with the police department open house which is an annual event during the “Gurnee Days” festivities.
Mayor Kovarik and Chief Woodside will be on hand to present the awards. Also, representatives from School Districts 50 and 56, along with Gurnee Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association members will also be in attendance.
