Mill Creek Watershed & Flood Mitigation Plan Open House, Tuesday, March 11th from 4-6pm

The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission invites you to attend a public information hearing to discuss the recently completed management plan for the Mill Creek watershed located in north central Lake County. This meeting will be held in open house format on Tuesday, March 11th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the University of Illinois Extension Service (100 S. Highway 45, Grayslake). A presentation on the plan will begin at 4 p.m. and will be repeated at 5:15 p.m. Public attendance and comment are highly encouraged.

The watershed plan addresses flooding problems, poor water quality in lakes and streams, and conservation of natural resources. The plan also provides guidance for residents and communities on best practices to improve current conditions and manage expected future changes to prevent problems from worsening in the watershed. Preventative practices include preserving and creating green infrastructure and using other sustainable practices to better manage stormwater and prevent flooding and pollution.

The Mill Creek watershed, which is part of the Des Plaines River watershed, includes Grandwood Park (unincorporated), Grayslake, Gurnee, Libertyville, Lindenhurst, Old Mill Creek, Round Lake Beach, Third Lake, Wadsworth, and Wildwood (unincorporated).
