The neighborhoods surrounding University Park and Christine Thompson Park had a neighborhood watch meeting on 05/15/14. The meeting was facilitated by Officer Dan Ruth. Officers Bertaud and Lietz also attended. A link to the 40-minute audio recording is above.

The next regularly scheduled neighborhood watch meeting for the area is currently scheduled to occur on November 13th, 2014, sooner should the need arise. An official notice will be circulated in November.

Police Activity Summary:

University Park area:

346 police calls for service were generated in the neighborhood during 2013. Historically, the annual average is 381.

18 of the calls during 2013 were for Illinois Uniform Crime Report (IUCR) crimes. The annual average is 28. The rest of the police calls are considered quasi-criminal, traffic, and service-related.

Since January 2008, 2,291 calls for service have been responded to in the neighborhood; 167 of them IUCR crimes. The calls for service to IUCR crime ratio in the area is roughly 7.18%.

Christine Thompson Park area:

992 police calls for service were generated in the neighborhood during 2013. Historically, the annual average is 791.

54 of the calls during the examined time period were for Illinois Uniform Crime Report (IUCR) crimes. The annual average is 69. The rest of the police calls are considered quasi-criminal, traffic, and service-related.

Since January 2008, 4,748 calls for service have been responded to in the neighborhood; 412 of them IUCR crimes. The calls for service to IUCR crime ratio in the area is roughly 8.8%.

Training:

Officer Dan Ruth gave the group a presentation on the myths and realities of sex offender registration laws.

Odds and Ends:

Again, the next meeting for the neighborhoods is scheduled for November 13th, 2014 or sooner should the need arise.
