Contractor to Begin Topographical Survey of Belle Plaine and Magnolia On or Around Monday, November 3rd

Beginning on or around Monday, November 3rd, the Village's contractor, RE Allen, will begin a topographical survey of Belle Plaine and Magnolia Avenues. During the survey, crews will be walking the area using equipment to measure the various elevations of both roadways. This survey is the first step in beginning a reconstruction project of both roads, which the Village anticipates will start in 2015. Residents are encouraged to drive slowly in the area while crews are at work.

Tollway Project Update: Westbound Lane Reduction Beginning at Grand/Dilleys and Continuing through November

The Village has received notice from the Illinois Tollway that, as part of Phase Two of the I-94/Grand Avenue interchange project, a new traffic pattern will be used on westbound Grand Avenue starting at Dilleys Road beginning on or around Saturday, October 11th. At that time, the Tollway will taper traffic from three westbound lanes to one in order to accommodate traffic merging on to westbound Grand Avenue from the Tollway while construction occurs on one of the ramps. This new traffic pattern is expected to continue into November.

ComEd to Begin Work on Transmission Towers throughout the Village Monday, September 29th

The Village has received notice from ComEd that they will be conducting works on their transmission towers throughout the area beginning on Monday, September 29th. An example of a transmission tower can be seen to the right. While this work will mostly be done in the ComEd right-of-ways, there may be some impact to traffic through the end of the year.

Gurnee to Consider Approval of Local Support for Relocation of Corporate and Manufacturing Headquarters of AKHAN Semiconductor within the Village

GURNEE, IL – As part of a group of local taxing bodies, the Village of Gurnee will be formally considering approval of a local sales tax rebate agreement with AKHAN Semiconductor to relocate its corporate and manufacturing headquarters to the Village. AKHAN Semiconductor, a leader in diamond semiconductor technology, has already secured investment worth approximately $3.5 million from the State of Illinois and pledges to create 80 high-paying jobs within two years with the potential for more pending the approval of additional incentives from local governments.
