Missing Person


Gurnee,IL – The Gurnee Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in locating a missing 16 year old female.

Samantha Smith was last seen Friday, April 11th at approximately 3:15 p.m.  After dismissal from Warren Township High School she was seen in the area of McClure Avenue, east of O’Plaine getting into a dark colored mid-size car.  She was wearing black shorts with white stripes on the legs and a dark blue tank top.

Neighborhood Watch Meeting this Thursday, March 13th for Crescent Meadows, Gurnee Meadows, and Deer Creek Condos

A Neighborhood Watch meeting is being held for residents of the Crescent Meadows, Gurnee Meadows, and Deer Creek Condos neighborhoods on Thursday, March 13th from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Police Department Community Room.  We will update everyone on crime data specific to these areas.

Information Sought on Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident

Gurnee, IL—Information is still being sought regarding a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on November 16, 2013. At 3:44 A.M. on November 16th, the Gurnee Police Department received a report of a man down in the roadway in the area of the southbound entrance ramp from Washington St. to Rt. 41. The first officers to arrive found the victim unresponsive lying next to an injured dog. Gurnee Firemedics tended to the victim but could find no signs of life.

Gurnee Police to Conduct Holiday Mobilization Enforcement Period

Gurnee, IL – Beginning December 20th and running through January 5th, 2014, the Gurnee Police Department will be conducting special traffic enforcement efforts throughout the village. 

Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these additional 40 hours of enforcement actions are being focused to remove drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways, increase safety belt and child restraint device use, and to curb speeding motorists.
