Video Voyeur Arrested

GURNEE, IL - June 21, 2010 - At 2:19 PM on Saturday, June 19, Officers responded to Hurricane Harbor in Six Flags Great America for a report of a male subject engaged in unlawful video recording of persons in the men’s locker room there.

Fourth of July Drunk & Drugged Driving Special Enforcement Period


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

GURNEE, IL –-Beginning June 16th and running through July 4th, 2010 the Gurnee Police Department will be conducting enhanced impaired driver enforcement activities throughout the village.

Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these enforcement actions are being conducted in order to remove “buzzed,” drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways.

Gurnee Police Honor Employees of the Year

The Police Officer of the Year and Civilian Employee of the Year for 2009 will be honored at the June 7 village board meeting, beginning at 7:30 PM at the Gurnee Village Hall, 325 N. O’Plaine Road.

Each year, two committees made up of rank and file members of the police department, meet to review award nominations that are submitted by fellow employees and supervisors. The committees then select the recipient of the awards.

Roadside Safety Checkpoint Results

GURNEE, IL –- The Gurnee Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department conducted a roadside safety checkpoint from 10:00 PM, May 28, 2010 to 3:00 AM, May 29, 2010. The checkpoint was held in the 3500 block of Route 132. The results of the checkpoint are as follows.

Gurnee Officers Awarded for Traffic Enforcement Efforts

GURNEE, IL –- Seventeen Gurnee Police Officers were recognized for their traffic enforcement efforts at the Village Board meeting Monday, May 17, 2010. Several officers received multiple awards which were presented by Chief Robert Jones and Mayor Kristina Kovarik.

Peace Officer's Memorial Day to be Celebrated Saturday, May 15th

Peace Officers Memorial Day will be celebrated Saturday, May 15th.  Per the United States Flag Code, please lower your flags to half-staff in honor of this day.  In 1994, a federal law was enacted authorizing this special honor for America's fallen law enforcement officers.  May 15th of each year has been designated as Peace Officers' Memorial Day, a day to pay tribute to the local, State, and Federal law enforcement officers who serve and protect us with courage and dedication.
