Runner Struck by Vehicle at Intersection

Gurnee, IL - Gurnee Police and Fire department personnel responded to a 9-1-1 call at 8:38 this morning reporting an accident involving a pedestrian and a commercial passenger van. The accident occurred at the intersection of Gages Lake Road and Murifield Drive.

The pedestrian was apparently out running and crossed Gages Lake Road from southbound Murifield. The van was eastbound on Gages Lake Road. After striking the pedestrian, the van swerved to the left and came to a stop. The victim was treated at the scene by the Gurnee Fire Medics and transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was reported to have suffered back, neck and head injuries. She is expected to recover from her injuries.

The pedestrian is identified as Deanna Fedash, 18, of the 200 block of Southridge Drive, Gurnee. The van driver is identified as Aaron Gallego, 31, of the 400 block of Briar Hill Dr., Round Lake Park. There is no suspicion of impaired driving and the driver voluntarily submitted a urine sample to investigating officers. The van involved is owned by the Knowledge Learning Corporation & Kindercare, of the 4500 block of Brookhaven Drive, Gurnee. The driver was the sole occupant of the van.
