Gurnee, IL – On Monday, May 5, 2014, the Village of Gurnee Police Department will be promoting two officers into senior leadership positions. At 7:30 p.m. at the Village Board Meeting (325 N. O’Plaine Road), Mayor Kristina Kovarik will recognize the promotion of Commander Saundra Campbell to the rank of Deputy Police Chief and Sergeant David Farrow to the rank of Commander by administering an oath of office to each.
Deputy Chief Saundra Campbell was hired as a Gurnee Police Officer in July 1992, where she served as patrol officer and then as detective from 1997 until her promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 1999. She has served the department as a Commander since 2011. Deputy Chief Campbell holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology.
Commander David Farrow was hired as a Gurnee Police Officer in January 1997, where he has served as patrol officer, field training officer, detective, undercover agent with Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, and sniper with Northern IL Police Alarm System. In 2008, Commander Farrow was promoted to Sergeant where his leadership abilities were integral in developing and leading the Visitor Oriented Policing Team. Commander Farrow holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice.
