Gurnee Liquor Compliance Checks Result in One Violation

Gurnee, IL – The Gurnee Police Department conducts periodic checks of businesses within the village that offer retail sales of alcoholic beverages.  Businesses that hold liquor licenses in Gurnee were checked on April 17, 2014 for underage alcohol sales.

Gurnee detectives accompanied underage volunteers who entered establishments and attempted to purchase an alcohol product or an alcoholic beverage. 

A total of 43 businesses were checked and one served alcohol to a minor.  The violation occurred at Joe’s Crab Shack and the bartender, Kelli Miller, was issued a local ordinance citation for the unlawful sale of liquor to a minor.  She was given a branch court date of May 8, 2014.

Chief Kevin Woodside stated “The Village of Gurnee has zero tolerance for selling or providing alcohol to kids.  These compliance checks are one way to ensure that liquor license holders are serving responsibly.”
