Each year the Village of Gurnee conducts a Community Feedback Survey in order to gauge resident satisfaction with the Village and the services it provides. This year's Community Feedback Survey was mailed to 1,500 randomly selected residents on August 18, 2006. All individuals surveyed were asked to return the completed form to the Village Hall no later than September 4, 2006. Included with the survey was a cover letter explaining the survey project and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Surveys were accepted until the cut-off date of September 4, 2006. In total the Village received 270 responses (17.5% response rate). An 17.5% response rate is considered average for a survey of this kind and length. Based upon the survey responses received, 90% of the time the results of a survey such as this should not differ by more than 5%, in either direction, from what would have been obtained by surveying all residents within the Gurnee population.
Throughout the survey, residents are asked several questions about different city services by considering how important it is that the service be provided as well as how satisfied residents are with the Village's ability to provide it. Ideally, the areas which respondents rate highest in importance would also be rated highest in satisfaction. While this is true for many services, some areas have discrepancies between average importance and satisfaction ratings.
