The Village of Gurnee has installed twelve outdoor warning sirens. These outdoor sirens are located throughout the Village and are capable of sounding both the siren and a voice message.
- In the event of a severe storm warning or tornado watch, the warning system will sound a VOICE MESSAGE ONLY, no sirens.
In the event of a tornado warning, the warning system will sound both VOICE MESSAGE & SIRENS.
This warning system is designed to alert individuals OUTSIDE of a structure of the upcoming weather related dangers. They are not designed to be heard inside of a structure. Indoor warnings are relayed through radio and television. During severe weather, additional information can be received by tuning your radio to WKRS 1220 AM or WXLC 102.3 FM. Residents should NOT call 911 unless they have to report an emergency situation requiring our services. Please just seek shelter and tune into local emergency broadcast stations.
