GURNEE, IL – August 18, 2011 – The Gurnee Fire Department Awards Task Force recently convened to review the nominations for the Gurnee Fire Employee of the Year for the Exchange Clubs of Gurnee. The Awards Task Force is pleased to announce that Firemedic Brad Lambert has been selected as the 2010 Gurnee Fire Employee of the Year.
Lambert began his career as a paid on-call firefighter in 1988 and was appointed to a full-time Civil Service position in 1997. Lambert is responsible for managing all aspects of the Department’s communications program, and his work has made the Department a leader in the County in terms of radio equipment, GIS mapping and mobile data information. He also is an active member of the Village’s narrow banding committee and works in cooperation with the Village’s Police and Public Works Departments as well as the Information Systems Division. As a member of the committee, Lambert has worked to obtain a narrow band frequency, bringing the Fire Department into early compliance with the 2013 Federal Communication Commission (FCC) upcoming regulations.
Lambert also holds numerous State of Illinois Fire Marshal certifications including Fire Officer I and Illinois Department of Public Health Paramedic certification.
Gurnee Fire Chief Fred N. Friedl said regarding the award, “It is not an easy task to select just one individual for this award since our organization has so many individuals that put forth that extra effort each and every day! After a lengthy discussion and deliberation Brad was selected as the 2010 award recipient.”
He continued, “In dealing with Brad, I have always been impressed by his professionalism and dedication to the people we serve and protect. Brad provides our citizens and visitors with a level of care that is the best. Brad’s performance in every way exemplifies the qualities of the fire service that the Village of Gurnee and our nation has come to rely upon. The Department is very proud of Brad and congratulates him on receiving this great award.”
Criteria used by the Awards Task Force to select the award recipient include involvement in community affairs on and off duty, customer service, public relations, safety habits, organizational skills, productivity, initiative, attention to detail and management ability as well as personal qualities including enthusiasm, courtesy, dedication, self-sacrifice and integrity.
The award presentation will be during the Exchange Clubs of Gurnee 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday, September 11th, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Viking Park. The Ceremony is free for the public and will feature posting of Colors by the Fire & Police Honor Guard; guest speakers State Senator Suzi Schmidt, Mayor Kristina M. Kovarik and Navy Captain Pete R. Lintner; United States Navy Great Lakes 50 State Flag Unit; Navy Great Lakes Band; Gurnee Grade School Choir and additional presentations the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and Police Civilian Employee of the Year Awards.
