Question of the Week: Can I get a list of when each Village Facility is open?
1. Changes to Village Utility Billing Rates and Structures
On Saturday, October 1st, the Village restructured water and sewer billing rates and frequency. Under this system, residents and businesses pay a base fee for water and sewer service per bill and then pay for any usage instead of the Village charging a minimum usage bill. Base fees depend on the water meter size of the respective customer. For single family residences, the base fee for water and sewer service is $10.93 per bill. The modified combined water and sewer rates for all users is $4.97 per 1,000 gallons, an 8% increase from the old system. The average single family household, using roughly 6,000 gallons of water a month, will pay $70.57 per bill. Information on these rates changes can be found on the Village's website .
This change will not be immediately apparent on most bills. The Village must first transition from its current three month cycle system (where residents and businesses receive bills once per quarter) to a two month cycle (where residents and businesses receive a bill every other month). This transition will occur between October and December, and any bills you receive between now and December should have usage from before and after the changes. More information on your specific bill can be found on the Village's website and in the October issue of Keeping Posted.
For any questions, please contact Village Hall at (847) 599-7500.
2. Leaf Collection to begin Monday, October 17th
Waste Management will begin the annual leaf collection program on Monday, October 17th and end the program on Saturday, November 26th. During this period, Waste Management will complete six rounds of the Village to collect leaves. Please note that your leaf collection day may not be the same day as your regular refuse collection and that the trucks may not always come on the same day during the collection period due to rain, snow or other inclement weather, which can significantly slow down operations. Leaves must be raked to the curb no later than 6 a.m. on the Monday of each collection week to ensure that they are picked up that week. Look for more details on the Village's website and in the October issue of Keeping Posted.
3. Warren Newport Public Library to reopen Monday, October 17th
