The Hickory Haven neighborhood had their most recent Neighborhood Watch meeting on 04/24/13. The meeting was held in place of a February meeting that was cancelled due to a major snow event. The meeting was facilitated by Crime Prevention Technician Tom Agos and attended by Sergeants Jason Kalinowski, Dave Farrow and Jim Lange, along with Officers Tom Woodruff, Carol McClanathan, and Scott Kotrba. Our next meeting is currently scheduled for 09/05/13.

Police Activity Summary:
226 police calls for service were generated during 2012 in patrol beat 119. Historically, the average is 210 per year. 4 (roughly 1.7%) of the calls received from the neighborhood in 2012 were for Illinois Uniform Crime Report (IUCR) crimes. 7 crimes were reported in 2011. The rest of the police calls are considered quasi-criminal, traffic, and service-related.
Since January 2007, 1,265 calls for service have been responded to in patrol beat 119; 48 of them IUCR crimes. The calls for service to crime ratio in the neighborhood is 3.82%.
Crimes and calls for service that speak to quality of life issues in residential neighborhoods have remained relatively stable for the past 6 years. The highest number of crimes (11) were reported in 2007 and 2010. The lowest (4) in 2012. The six-year average is 8 IUCR crimes reported annually.
Officers Carol McClanathan and Tom Woodruff gave a presentation on transient or traveling criminal crews. They explained who they are, what they do, and presented prevention points so residents can avoid being victimized by them. The hand-out material provided is attached below.
