The neighborhoods surrounding Chittenden Park (beats 80 and 81) had their most recent Neighborhood Watch meeting on 05/09/13. The meeting was facilitated by Tom Agos. Officers Tim Lavris, Tom Woodruff and Carol McClanathan also attended. The next regularly scheduled neighborhood watch meeting for the area is currently slated for 10/17/13; sooner should the need arise. An official notice will be circulated when the date is closer.
Calls for service: 1,314 police calls for service have been generated by patrol beat 81, which is east of Delany Rd., during 2012. Historically, the annual average is 972.
90 police calls for service have been generated by single family areas in patrol beat 80, which is west of Delany Rd., during 2012. Historically, the annual average is 62.
Crime: 64 of the calls during the examined time period in both beats were for Illinois Uniform Crime Report (IUCR) crimes. 11 of the reported crimes occurred at single-family residences. The remaining 53 occurred at businesses and/or on the major roadways that are within each patrol beat. In November 2012 we predicted that 2012 would generate 71 IUCR crimes in the patrol beats. This was based on the trend established during the previous 5 years.
Officers Tom Woodruff and Carol McClanathan gave a presentation on transient or traveling criminal crews. He explained who they are, what they do, and presented prevention points so residents can avoid being victimized by them.
