The Hickory Haven neighborhood had their most recent Neighborhood Watch meeting on 09/05/13. The meeting was facilitated by Crime Prevention Technician Tom Agos. Sergeant Jon Ward and Officer Dave Bertaud also attended. Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for a date in February 2014; sooner if the need arises. Police Activity Summary:
113 police calls for service were generated during the first half of 2013 in patrol beat 119. Historically, the annual average is 193 per year.
4 (roughly 3.5%) of the calls received from the neighborhood in the first half of 2013 were for Illinois Uniform Crime Report (IUCR) crimes. 4 crimes were reported in all of 2012. The rest of the police calls are considered quasi-criminal, traffic, and service-related.
Since January 2008, 1,159 calls for service have been responded to in patrol beat 119; 41 of them IUCR crimes. The calls for service to crime ratio in the neighborhood are 3.57%.
Seven traffic crashes were reported so far in 2013 and officers initiated 65 traffic enforcement related activities in the patrol beat.
Crimes and calls for service that speak to quality of life issues in residential neighborhoods have remained relatively stable for the past 6 years. The highest number of crimes (11) was reported in 2010. The lowest (4) in all of 2012. The six-year average is 6.8 IUCR crimes reported annually.
We gave the group a presentation on emergency preparedness relative to active shootings. Afterwards, we gave a presentation on laws pertaining to door-to-door sales persons (solicitors).
